My name is Martha. I grew up in western Connecticut and met my husband Michael at the University of New Hampshire.  We have been married almost 40 years! We started off living in the greater Boston area and purchased our first 800 square foot bungalow home when we had but one little 6 month old niblet. 

Ten years and four more children later, the house was getting a bit tight. We moved to California and spread out not only in our larger  home, but by extensively exploring the natural wonders of the Golden State. Four years and one additional child later, we returned to the Boston area and moved to our present home. Since then we have added five awesome in-laws and six adorable grandchildren to the clan. While this account of the past 40 years sounds glamorously wonderful, it was also a season of desperation and tears, through which I have learned that God is present and practical, faithful and sufficient, wise and compassionate. He is awesome and we are blessed.

I love God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and I take great pleasure in sharing about Him with others. I have been privileged to speak to groups over the past 30 years and wrote my first and only book, A Guided Journey: Parenting with Jesus in the Raft, six years ago. This blog is my next attempt at making my musings public!

I love being active, being outside and best of all being active outside. I enjoy exploring new places, camping, tromping on trails through the woods or by the ocean with a friend, a dog or both, hiking in the mountains with my husband or just gardening in my own yard surrounded by our chickens.

I also enjoy meeting people from other cultures and visiting their home countries if possible. I enjoy the arts, painting and literature, and prefer simplicity.

I do not like rushing, celebrity drama, fast food or technology.
